Who we are

We guide people who understand that all healing begins with the soul. We create the conditions where true healing–healing that addresses mind, body, heart spirit can occur. We are practitioners who have been on our own healing journeys and understand both the desire for wholeness and the challenges associated with this path. The path to healing is truly a hero's journey and we are here as guides along that path.

Char Sundust, Spiritual Director

Char Sundust is a teacher, mentor, healer, and visionary who assists others in cultivating and accessing their gifts by offering insight, information, and wisdom to create positive and sustainable changes. She provides ceremony for the celebrations and life passages all human beings experience, including births, weddings and commitments, convocations, graduations, rites of passage, and celebrations of life. She offers one-on-one mentorship for personal, spiritual, and professional development, mentoring individuals and groups to achieve the next level in their health and well-being, creative, spiritual, and professional lives. Char’s healing practice integrates ancient and new technologies so more healing modalities are available.

Char’s lineage is woven of mixed global heritages, which has inspired her to create programs for people to recover and discover their ancestral roots and spiritual identity, and apply these learnings to support a deeply personal spiritual practice that can be applied to change our internal world, which creates positive change in the external world.

Char’s program at Sundust Oracle Institute assists those who want to access their inherent body wisdom and to cultivate and develop their intuitive nature, and to recognize the voice in Spirit in their own natures. She has developed numerous programs for personal, professional, and spiritual development, including a year-long leadership and mentoring course, a program for personal healing and soul work, an applied spirituality program, a program called Flow for writers who use writing as a spiritual practice, and a couple’s workshop for people in committed relationships, because we bring ourselves to any relationship we are in.

Char has been featured on KEXP, KZOK, The Jeff Renner Show, and Evening Magazine. Char was also featured on NPR, in collaboration with Charles Jefferson and her adoptive Lakota mother Barbara Means Adams, in “Iyaye.” Char hosts a monthly podcast that can be found at Medicine Media. She is the co-author of God, Death, and Poetry with William Whittman, and contributing author to the book Altar-Making. Char is an award-winning poet and her poetry can be heard on Thousands of Miles with David Close and Sol with Sonny Mishra.

Char is deeply committed to the sustainability of nature and attending to the Earth’s well-being. She assists individuals in achieving their destinies through spiritual practice and personal accountability. She serves as a bridge of the many cultural wisdoms we have access to at this time to create tangible, positive change in our internal and external environments. Char comes from a rich spiritual background of mixed race and ethnic heritage. She thanks her mother, who has mixed indigenous roots from North and South America, Siberia, and Europe. Char also has near East and Middle Eastern heritage. Char thanks her adoptive family, who are Lakota-Sioux and French. Char is honored to be a protégé of Angeles Arrien and her work in transpersonal psychology and the four fold way. Char thanks all of these ancestors and is grateful for all that has been given her to serve and preserve what is good, true, and lasting.

“In Char, I found… a place of healing and growth that carried me from patterns of hiding and questioning my self-worth, to the shores of belonging, connection, and expression of my life dreams. The cross-cultural tools, teachings, and mentorship I’ve received through Char’s classes and workshops continue to empower my gifts, dreams, and all of my relationships.”

Dr. Carrie Rose, Medical Director

Carrie Rose, MD, is dedicated to disrupting the status quo and changing the way medicine is practiced. She currently serves her community as a private practice doctor offering functional medicine consults. Dr. Rose has been practicing as a physician for 25 years. She began her career as a family physician, offering full spectrum family medicine, including obstetrics, bringing her passion for whole person care to her training as a family medicine physician from the beginning.

Dr. Rose’s practice is grounded in the knowledge that the body is determined to heal itself. Through dedicated practice of root-cause oriented, collaborative, and holistic medicine, Dr. Rose has observed the immense desire and inborn nature of the body to seek healing and wellness.

It became all too clear to Dr. Rose that the current model of sick care too often creates more disease, and has dedicated her career to bringing a different approach to care for her patients. She quickly became disillusioned with the trappings of conventional medicine, especially the focus on treating symptoms rather than understanding the root cause of illness. This led her to pursue additional training in functional medicine, becoming certified through the Institute for Functional Medicine in 2016.

Dr. Rose’s dedication to helping her patients achieve optimum health has led her to seek extensive post doctoral education. In addition to her training in functional medicine, she has studied integrative psychiatry, integrative cardiology, peptide therapy, women’s health and hormone therapy, psychedelic assisted therapies, shamanic healing, breath work, and mindfulness based therapies. She practiced both family medicine and functional medicine for 22 years at Pacific Medical Center before leaving to pursue a dedicated integrative medical practice. Her interest in psychedelic assisted therapies led her to study with the California Institute for Integral Studies and completed their Certificate in Psychedelic Assisted Therapy and Research.

“I owe my life to Dr. Rose, quite literally. After nearly 15 years of suffering, in a few visits she helped me diagnose the disease that was the root cause of my multi-system issues. She has immense knowledge in many areas and the insight to think outside of the box in testing and treatment. She guided me holistically in ways to improve my gut health, mental health, [and] energy levels.”
